Journalist Sarah Glover to address Caribbean Week in New York marketing conference

Sarah Glover, the former two-term president of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), the largest U.S. organization for journalists of color, will be participating in the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Tourism Industry Marketing Conference, which is taking place at the Martinique New York on Broadway in midtown Manhattan, during Caribbean Week in New York from June 5-8, 2023.

The theme of the marketing conference, to be held on June 7, is “Tourism Industry Resurgence in a Whole New World”.

Glover, who is Vice President of News & Civic Dialogue at WHYY News, will be part of a panel addressing “Building Awareness and Driving Growth in New Markets”. 

Market expansion and diversification are key drivers for tourism growth in the region. The panel will present the things Caribbean tourism stakeholders need to know, understand and do to attract visitors from the Gulf statesLatin America, and the burgeoning African American market, including the vibrant Caribbean diaspora.

Joining Glover will be Dawit Habtemariam, Global Tourism Reporter of Skift, and Henry Zamarripa, a Latin America and Emerging Markets Executive. Caribbean-American journalist Melissa Noel, News and Politics Editor at ESSENCE Magazine, will serve as moderator. 

From capitalizing on changing dynamics and building awareness in new markets, Caribbean Week in New York, produced by the CTO Foundation, offers valuable insights into current industry trends with discussions covering destination performance, leading strategies, the impact of artificial intelligence, and Caribbean tourism success stories.

Renowned travel industry analyst Henry Harteveldt will keynote the meeting, which features travel and tourism professionals, including several ministers of tourism, such as CTO Chairman Kenneth Bryan, who serves as Minister of Tourism and Ports for the Cayman Islands.

Funds raised during Caribbean Week will go towards scholarships and grants for Caribbean students in the region and the diaspora.
