10 years of art celebrated in Cayman Islands with successful exhibition launch

Art showThe Gallery at The Ritz-Carlton recently celebrated a milestone tenth birthday with the launch of another successful exhibition, Serenity, set to last until mid-April, and organisers say the evolution of this spectacular art gallery has enriched both the resort’s guests and locals alike with its diverse and ever-changing artistic offerings.
Led by Director, Chris Christian, The Gallery at The Ritz-Carlton spans the width of the West Bay Road located in the bridge that connects the two sides of the property. It is a popular walkway for guests and a brilliant location for local artists to showcase their talents.
Mr Christian says it has been exciting to see the space grow over the years into a really important art offering and showcase for local artwork.
“We began back in 2006 with just a handful of local artists who saw the opportunity to use the space to promote their artwork. Now, we are currently hosting an incredible 45 local artists exhibiting around 300 pieces of artwork, so it shows just how well received The Gallery has been in those ten years,” he confirms.
Working alongside The Ritz-Carlton staff, Mr Christian says it has been a real team effort in getting The Gallery off the ground and continuing to evolve and he is extremely grateful to the staff there for their hard work and dedication to continuing the good work.
Marc Langevin, General Manager, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, states that it has been an honour to have Chris Christian as the curator for their Gallery over the last ten years.
“Chris, being from Cayman and one of the leading established artists on island, it was an obvious choice and we have formed a great relationship that has grown over the years. He has brought on not only amazing artists and highlighted their work to our locals and visitors but has done it with The Ritz-Carlton standards in mind,” he says.
Mr Langevin goes on to say that The Gallery has progressed over the years and has  become very popular with visitors to peruse and take a home a piece of art that will remind them of their time on island.
“We also enjoy seeing the new artists come out every quarter and hear about their inspirations and how excited they are to be in The Gallery.  This is a unique feature to our hotel that allows us to stand out and is most definitely a valuable contribution to the resort,” he adds.
