13 castles fit for a high-net-worth Halloween property purchase
The world’s leading high-net-worth mortgage broker, Enness Global, has pulled together 13 Halloween homes with a difference for those looking to buy at the top-end of the global housing market.
The UK and Ireland
Glenborrodale Castle, Scotland: £3.75m
At the top of the table is Glenborrodale Castle in Scotland, currently on the market for £3.75m. Dating back well over 100 years, this stunning castle offers panoramic views and includes a Gate Lodge, an additional detached Coach House, it’s own gym, Boathouse and jetty.
Not only does it come with these additional features, but it stretches over nearly 133 acres that include the Isle of Risga and Eilean an Feidh.
Devizes Castle, Wilshire: £3.25m
Devizes Castle offers the perfect balance of historical features and modern comfort and is located within a stone’s throw of the market town of Devizes. This magnificent Grade I listed building not only takes you back in time but is perfect for family life, with great local schools on its doorstep.
Glandyfi Castle, Powys: £2.85m
If you would rather buy in Wales, Glandyfi Castle is on the market for just £2.85m, stretching across 31.43 acres of land. Built in the early 19th century from local stone, it has been brought up to modern living standards as well as recently benefitting from a new roof.
Glengarriff Castle, West Cork: £2.492m
Just a four-minute drive from Glengarriff village and only an hour from Cork airport, you can secure a piece of Irish history along with 87 acres of outstanding grounds including a private section of shoreline. The castle has been partially renovated although planning permission has been granted for a full renovation with plans to include six bedrooms, as well as a staff wing.
Spain
If you’d prefer a Haloween inspired property purchase in a warmer climate, both Palma Castle and Avila Castle are on the market in Spanish territories for £.488m and £3.171m respectively.
Palma Castle is located on the island of Mallorca, just 8 kilometres from central Palma and is set across nearly 356 acres of landscaped gardens. It also includes a swimming pool and the potential for an equestrian facility or private vineyard.
Avila Castle is perhaps the most of impressive of all as it also comes on its own private island fit with a heliport and jetty.
Germany
If Germany provides a more haunting feel for a Haloween home purchase, then you can pick up Rhineland-Palatinate Castle for a little under £2.628m or Rheinland-Pfalz Castle for £2.446m.
France
France has an abundance of castles currently on the market and at the top end of the price threshold is Pertuis Castle in Luberon, on sale for £3.534m. It boasts 16 bedrooms, a swimming pool, garages, a tennis court, additional outbuildings and more, all spread over 10.38 acres.
If you want something more affordable than Carcassonne Castle is on the market for £2.628m and boasts a full renovation including eight large bedrooms, four bathrooms and an independent one-bedroom apartment, as well as a number of reception rooms.
Managing Director of Enness Global Mortgages, Hugh Wade-Jones commented:
“A three million pound price tag won’t secure you a huge deal in the global high-end market and in many major cities you’re looking at a fairly decent flat, perhaps an average-sized house. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t secure a great deal more by looking outside of the traditionally popular locations of London, Monaco and the rest.
In fact, you could secure a whole castle for a similar price tag in countries all over the world and whether you’re looking for a Halloween appropriate home or a COVID-safe bolthole, you will get a lot more space for your money. As well as some additional fortification.”
