For the North Atlantic…Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the western Caribbean
Sea are associated with a weak surface trough. This activity is
forecast to move westward to northwestward over Central America and
the Yucatan Peninsula during the next couple of days with no
significant development. Environmental conditions could become
slightly more conducive for some development if the system moves
into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week.

For the eastern North Pacific…east of 140 degrees west longitude:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Bud, located a few hundred miles south-southeast of the southern
tip of the Baja California peninsula.
1. Disorganized cloudiness and showers centered several hundred miles
south-southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec are associated with a
broad area of low pressure. Unfavorable upper-level winds are
expected to prevent significant organization of this system for the
next couple of days. Thereafter, environmental conditions could
become marginally conducive for some development late this week as
the system drifts north-northwestward or northwestward.

* Formation chance through 5 days…low…20 percent.

Description:
The Global Infrared Satellite image shows clouds by their temperature. Red and blue areas indicate cold (high) cloud tops. Infrared (IR) radiation is electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of terahertz radiation and microwaves. Weather satellites equipped with scanning radiometers produce thermal or infrared images which can then enable a trained analyst to determine cloud heights and types, to calculate land and surface water temperatures, and to locate ocean surface features.
