14 new suspect cases of COVID-19 in Cayman being tested
Cayman Islands Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Lee, has confirmed local testing of fourteen suspected cases of having contracted the novel coronavirus COVID-19.
There are approx. 480 test kits available and more are on order.
Premier Alden McLaughlin has just announced that all bars, salons, gyms, and public swimming pools will be closed from this Sunday 15th at 11;59pm.
Restaurants will only be open for take-outs and delivery.
Health City Cayman is still on lock-down with thirty cases still being tested from there.**
Public health officials are complying with the Caribbean Public Heath Agency (CARPHA) guidelines that restrict testing to those showing clear symptoms or with a recent travel history to a country with ongoing infections, otherwise they would run out of kits very quickly.
The situation here is very fluid and changes will be immediately taken if different mitigating circumstances warrant it.
