Shortly after 4PM yesterday, Sunday, 10 January, the police helicopter was on patrol when it spotted a suspicious vessel, a 35-ft. Go-fast boat, approximately ten miles offshore Barkers in West Bay. The vessel had two men on board. The helicopter crew alerted Joint Marine officers, who responded to the area on board the police vessel, the Niven D, and intercepted the boat. The men on board subsequently surrendered to marine officers, who brought the boat to the police marine base. The men were then arrested on immigration-related offences. One man, age 31, is from West Bay. The matter is under investigation to confirm the nationality of the second man, age 45.
