(Grand Cayman, Wednesday, 22 May 2013) In celebration of World Athletics Day, the Cayman Islands Athletic Association is one of the 122 IAAF Member Federations who have entered to take part in the 2013 edition of the IAAF World Athletics Day. Now in its 18th year, the IAAF World Athletics Day, the sport’s annual worldwide festival of youth, is one of the busiest programmes of competitions in the Athletics calendar.

The goal of the IAAF World Athletics Day is to firmly establish an important link between the youth, our sport, and environmental conservation.

The festival has always been held on a designated weekend each year and while the weekend of Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 May 2013 was the preferred date for the IAAF’s Member Federations to celebrate the IAAF World Athletics Day, the option of holding their celebration at any time during the month of May has been allowed in an effort to aid the greatest possible number of participating Federations.

Cayman’s Meet will take place on Thursday, 30 May at 6:00pm and Friday, 31 May at 6:00pm at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, 28 May and registration forms are available by contacting Coach Yen at 925-6917 or Coach Williams at 925-1943. Completed forms may be returned to any of the above persons or emailed to [email protected].

The CIAA has confirmed that this meet will also be used as a qualifier for the CAC Age Group Championships which takes place in June 2013.
