RCIPS have confirmed an accident happened this evening (Fri 5) on the West Bay Road near the Captains Bakery.

One of the injured drivers assaulted a paramedic at the scene, according to police.  That individual was one of the people who were taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.

Several people were injured and the driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside until emergency crews got him out.  No word on the extent of the injuries suffered by the individuals involved.

Traffic on West Bay Road was at a halt for over an hour as the road was completely blocked.
