1^st December 2012 – George Town, Grand Cayman – With the recent vote in the Legislative Assembly that passed the Special Economic Zones Law, Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) is once again expanding its local team by hiring local Attorney Ms Rachel Smyth in the role of Business Development Manager.

To facilitate the rapidly growing demands on the local team with regard to client interest CEC has sought out a professional young Caymanian for the position of Business Development Manager. With her experience as an attorney, her knowledge of the corporate and financial services in Cayman and her ‘can do’ attitude CEC believes they have found a perfect candidate.

“It is a very challenging and demanding role and will no doubt be a completely new experience, but I feel very confident that through her tenacity, skill set and intellect Rachel will excel in this role. I look forward to working with her and training her up into this position over the coming months” said Hilary McKenzie-Cahill VP of Marketing and Business Development for CEC.

As one of CEC’s growing team of Business Development Managers, Ms Smyth will work with the Cayman based business development department and CEC’s Dubai based office. As part of this role Rachel will interact with global companies in the fields of ICT, media and biotechnology and present the benefits of CEC and the Cayman Islands as the perfect jurisdiction in which to establish an office to target the North and Latin American markets. She will network at local and international trade shows and act as a Caymanian ambassador to CEC’s international visiting clients and dignitaries amongst other responsibilities.

When asked about her feelings towards her new role with Cayman Enterprise City Ms. Smyth responded by saying “I am extremely pleased to have been chosen for this dynamic and challenging role and am looking forward to being an integral part of helping grow a project that has so many benefits for the Cayman Islands. I am excited about getting out there and forging relationships with small businesses and fortune 500 brands alike and in the process learning and adding to my skill set”

As part of her training Rachel was sent this week to the United Arab Emirates where she has been meeting with members of CEC’s Dubai based team along with potential clients and strategic business partners. “I believe that enabling Rachel to see the world’s most successful SEZs first-hand in Dubai will be an invaluable experience and is the best on-the-job training we could possibly provide her to allow her to excel in her career with CEC.” said Charles Kirkconnell Director of Investment for Cayman Enterprise City.

About Cayman Enterprise City

Cayman Enterprise City is a knowledge-based Special Economic Zone being developed in a state-of-the-art campus of innovative and sustainable architecture in Grand Cayman, designed to compliment and respect the local environment. It will include: Cayman Internet & Technology Park, Cayman Media Park, Cayman Biotechnology Park Cayman Commodities & Derivatives Park, CayOutsource Park and Cayman International Academic Park. There will be no manufacturing or industrial businesses within the zone. International businesses establishing within the zone will not be permitted to trade in Cayman outside of the zone so they cannot compete with local Caymanian businesses. Local Caymanian businesses outside the zone will benefit from new customers and new opportunities that will be created by servicing those doing business within the zone. Local Caymanian construction workers and sub-contractors will be sought to build Cayman Enterprise City which will be developed in three phases comprising 500,000 sq. ft. of Class A office space. CEC intends to break ground early in 2012.
