The 51 year old American male visitor who fell while rock climbing in Cayman Brac last Friday 26th December 2014, has been transferred to a US Hospital. He is considered to be in stable condition from injuries received in his fall.

On Friday 26th December, 2014, a 51 year old male fell 60 feet from the Bluff, Cayman Brac whilst climbing. He was initially conveyed with multiple fractures to the Faith Hospital by EMT where he was stabilized, but assessed in need of emergency care and surgery at George Town Hospital.

Due to the nature and extent of injuries, the RCIPS Air Operations Unit were contacted to medevac the casualty as a matter of urgency. The duty crew traveled to Cayman Brac with a hospital critical care nurse on board, with the helicopter reconfigured into Air Ambulance role.

The police helicopter subsequently completed the transfer to Grand Cayman, and the patient is currently stable and under treatment at George Town hospital.

A police spokesman said “The Police helicopter is always available for the benefit of the security and safety of the residents and visitors in the Cayman Islands. The Air Ambulance in critical care cases is one of the roles the crew prepare and are in readiness for, and we are pleased to be of assistance”
