Cayman Mardi Gras 2015: The Official Mardi Gras Festival – February 16-18 in Grand Cayman

George Town comes alive with one of the most celebrated festivals in the world – Mardi Gras! Cayman Mardi Gras is set to become an International Festival for the Cayman Islands events calendar. Culminating food, music, parades, fireworks and a lively atmosphere for both locals and visitors alike celebrating the festival over a 3 day period – February 16th (Monday) until the 18th (Ash Wednesday).

Mardi Gras Launch with Swanky Kitchen Band

Monday, we will fill the streets of George Town on South Church Street with the scents of delicious cuisine representing the French Quarters of Louisiana and the Caribbean infused. From Rundown to Gumbo, Lobster to Crawfish, local restaurants and vendors will showcase the culinary talents of the Cayman Islands.

Event starting at 5pm until 11pm and will include music by local DJ’s and live entertainment by Cayman’s own – Swanky Kitchen Band. This event is also the welcome party for visiting guest to the island as we coordinate transport from the various hotels and condos by shuttle in Louisiana style Trolley’s.

Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday – Hosted by Fatman Scoop

The main events take place on this beautiful day. Fat Tuesday will be hosted by Grammy Award Winner and International Artist – Fatman Scoop, as we take the Cayman Islands into the full swing of Mardi Gras. The streets of Cayman comes alive with the island’s first Mardi Gras Night Parade. Where floats will compete for a special cash prize donation for their favourite charity . This parade takes the route passing all 2nd floor buildings with balconies on Fort Street towards South Church Street and ends to the side of the Cayman Islands Museum. The parade starts at 7pm.

Then we kick off the Fat Tuesday Party at 8:30pm with the Star 92.7 FM DJs and MC’d by Fatman Scoop. This will take place in front of the Bayshore Mall Building with the 2nd Floor Balcony being the Stoli VIP Area and a special sponsor VIP lounge setup. Fireworks at Midnight to see out Fat Tuesday and Welcome in Ash Wednesday.

Mardi Gras Finale Party – Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, we wrap up Mardi Gras with a Street Festival starting at 10am and going all the way until Midnight. This Festival will be welcoming to the 6 cruise ships in port that day and will highlight Cayman Food, Music, and Culture. In the evening we will have another concert to entertain both visitors and locals. We stop at midnight as in the tradition of Mardi Gras to see out the party and welcome a new start of a new day.

George Town will see near 16,000 guests fill the streets from six visiting cruise ships” on the final day, Ash Wednesday, 18 February. Entertainment, food and festivities will be taking place from 10am until midnight on the Harbour. The event will be free of entry and is also expected to feature a secret celebrity performer for the evening.
