Cayman Islands seeks better customer service system for immigration
Better customer service at Immigration behind tender request
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – A request for proposals for a system that would streamline communication between the Department of Immigration and its customers will go out for public tender on Monday, 16 March, 2015.
The successful vendor will provide the web-based customer service aspects of the work permit and criminal record application aspects for the Immigration Department.
“All of this is part of Government’s ongoing efforts to make the Cayman Islands more business friendly,” said Premier and Minister for Home Affairs Hon. Alden McLaughlin.
The system will be an online platform that looks to dramatically improve customer service by way of streamlining communication between Immigration and its customers while also improving transparency.
Online solutions will make it easier for employers and employees to transact business with the Government in a transparent and efficient manner. It will also offer improved turnaround time on applications and processing.
“We believe online services at Immigration will mean a reduction of long lines and wait time in the Immigration Hall and a lessening of the burden of cumbersome forms and documents,” Mr. McLaughlin said.
Once the system goes online, customers will have 24-hour access to fill out forms and make payments.
With the online system employers will be able to post job advertisements, job seekers will be able to upload resumes in their areas of interest and employers will be able to manage applications for potential candidates.
The new system will mean that employers can submit work permit applications and payments for those applications and work permits. Agencies such as approved doctors, the Police Service, boards and others will be able to upload needed documentation for work permit applications.
The system will also be designed to be compatible with other systems such as Trade and Business and the National Workforce Development Agency.
Once deployed, the system will vet and track applications in real time. It will allow administrators the capability to make decisions at decision points and communicate progress and decisions to customers.
The successful vendor will implement components of the system and provide training and technical support.
The deadline for tender submissions is noon, 15 April, 2015.
