Cayman Islands Health City to boosts visibility through new partnership
Health City Cayman is teaming up with a private investor to publicize and strengthen its brand as the Caribbean region’s “premier destination for world-class healthcare and medical tourism”.
This is according to Shomari Scott, the marketing director of Health City Cayman Islands. The hospital is hoping to attract more international visitors who are seeking medical care into their facility. Their plan was also endorsed by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
“We are encouraged to embark on a partnership that positions Health City Cayman Islands as a leading tertiary care hospital in the Caribbean,” said Scott. Scott also served as the director of tourism in the Cayman Islands and thus has the necessary experience to marry tourism with health care, reports suggest.
“Destination healthcare is intriguing,” noted Rosa Harris, Cayman Islands’ current director of tourism, who was pleased to embrace the department’s “new budding partner.” The partner is not yet identified.
“This gives us an opportunity to promote the destination and have a different conversation. It’s not just a hospital. It will become a training center, assisted living facility, and also (offer) hotel accommodations. So, in our mind there will be many (levels and types) of partnership,” said Scott.
Harris said that Health City is already working with the tourism offices of the Cayman Islands with a view to integrating efforts to make the venture beneficial for the island(s), the Hospital and its new partner.
