President Obama’s failure to immediately call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to congratulate him on his election victory this week is just one blatant example of the animosity between the two world leaders.

“Top Obama officials loathed Netanyahu already,” the Israeli paper Haaretz noted — and the feeling evidently is mutual.

Here is a Newsmax look at 15 reasons why Netanyahu despises Obama.

1. In 2010, Obama humiliated Netanyahu when he abruptly terminated a meeting with the prime minister and left him at the White House while he went to have lunch with vice president Joe Biden. Netanyahu was not invited to join them.

2. At the same meeting, The White House refused to allow non-official photographers to record it, leading one observer to remark that Netanyahu was being treated “as if he were an unsavory Third World dictator.”

3. Obama responded unprofessionally when French President Nicolas Sarkozy spoke with him at a G-20 summit in Cannes. A hot microphone picked up Sarkozy saying, “I cannot bear Netanyahu, he’s a liar,” and Obama responded: “You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you.”

4. The Obama administration angered Netanyahu by suggesting the 1967 borders could be the starting line for a peace deal and creation of a Palestinian state, and Netanyahu fired off an angry call to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to complain.

5. Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry has lobbied world leaders to support U.S. negotiations to create a Palestinian state, distressing Netanyahu to the point that Haaretz reported: “Bibi hates Kerry and won’t listen to him.” Netanyahu has ruled out creation of a Palestinian state.

6. The Obama administration has issued sharp denunciations of Netanyahu’s plans for new construction in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

7. Obama did not enthusiastically support Israel’s war in Gaza to halt terror attacks emanating from the Hamas-controlled enclave.

8. When Netanyahu traveled to the U.S. for an address at the United Nations in September 2012, the White House said Obama would not meet with him, claiming “the president’s schedule will not permit that.”

9. Obama also snubbed Netanyahu when he recently came to Washington to deliver a speech before Congress warning about administration efforts to forge a deal on Iran’s nuclear program, a deal Netanyahu maintains would guarantee a nuclear-armed Iran. Obama termed the address “nothing new.”

10. In March 2014, Obama pressed Netanyahu to accept a peace deal with the Palestinians as the deadline neared for both sides to sign on to a U.S.-brokered framework for a peace accord. If Netanyahu wasn’t happy with the solution being suggested, Obama said, “he needs to articulate an alternative approach,” a remark that was reportedly not appreciated by the prime minister.

11. In the wake of Netanyahu’s recent election victory, Obama’s Chief of Staff Denis McDonough scheduled a speech to J Street, an Israel advocacy group that often criticizes the Israeli government and especially Netanyahu.

12. The Obama administration’s State Department allegedly gave taxpayer-funded grants to an American nonprofit seeking to defeat Netanyahu in the recent election, triggering a probe by a U.S. Senate committee.

13. Netanyahu hinted at possible meddling by the administration when he said a coalition seeking to oust him is funded by “foreign donors” who are also encouraging a high voter turnout among Israel’s Arab and left-wing voters. Netanyahu commented about “Arab voters coming out in droves.”

14. Obama disturbed the Israeli leadership when he hosted a Feb. 24 meeting with the Emir of Qatar, which has sent hundreds of millions of dollars to Gaza since Hamas took control there in 2007, and has been accused of supporting terrorists.

15. The White House signaled Wednesday that it could reverse its decades-old policy of using its veto in the U.N. Security Council to protect Israel, and refuse to veto resolutions related to the Palestinians, in particular those condemning the Jewish state’s settlement policy in Palestinian territory.
