The RCIPS can now identify the deceased female jogger as one Marcia Donaldson, 46 years old of a George Town address. Family members have since been notified of her passing. The RCIPS at this time sends its condolences to the family of Ms. Donaldson.

Police can now confirm that the 25 year old male driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision has been arrested on suspicion of Causing death by dangerous driving and suspicion of causing death by drunk driving. He is presently receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the collision and has been bailed to return to the George Town Police Station at a later date.

There is now an appeal for persons who may have witnessed the collision or any activity prior to the collision to contact the Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Adrian Barnett at 5262204 or PC Watts at the George Town Police Station on 9494222.

The roadway is now clear for use by motorists

On Saturday April 25th 2015 shortly before 5am, police and emergency services received and responded to a report of a road traffic collision on South Sound Road in the vicinity of Cayman Crossing. The collision involved one motor vehicle and a female jogger.

Police can now confirm that this matter is being investigated as a fatal collision and road closure remains in effect. There is also damage to a utility pole which may cause interruption in service to some CUC customers; at this time CUC personnel is on scene attending to the issue.

Motorists are reminded to avoid traveling on the South Sound Road between the area of junction of Old Crewe Road and Cayman Crossing

Police are presently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on South Sound Road in the vicinity of Cayman Crossing. As a result, there is a road closures in effect from the junction of Old Crewe Road and South Sound Road up to Cayman Crossing. Motorists are advised to avoid this area if possible.
