Walkers bolsters Cayman Finance & Corporate team with a significant lateral hire
International law firm Walkers is pleased to announce the recruitment of Partner James Burch to the Finance and Corporate team in its Cayman Islands office, as part of a continued expansion strategy for the firm.
Mr. Burch has significant offshore and onshore experience and has previously worked in the Cayman Islands, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Mr. Burch has a broad expertise representing various parties involved in securitisations and structured products, secured lending transactions and corporate restructurings. Additionally, he has corporate experience which encompasses preference share financings, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.”

The news follows shortly after Walkers’ recent release of 21 May 2015 announcing the launch of a new corporate and fiduciary services division, Walkers Professional Services, and their intent to expand into Bermuda later this year.

James Burch joined Walkers’ Cayman Islands office in 2015 where he is a partner in the Global Finance and Corporate Group. James specialises in structured and asset finance with extensive experience in CLO, securitisation and secured note programme structures as well as aircraft and ship finance transactions. James also advises on a variety of banking and finance transactions including fund subscription financings, leveraged and acquisition financing and general secured lending.
James regularly acts for major investment banks, financial institutions, airlines, major public and private companies and leading on-shore law firms advising on a variety of finance transactions.
Prior Employment Experience
Before joining Walkers, James was a partner with another major offshore law firm where he spent over seven years in their Cayman Islands, Hong Kong and Singapore offices. Prior to his move to the Cayman Islands in 2007, James worked in the structured finance group of Linklaters in London.
