Cayman Islands animal rescue group announces 2,000 surgeries and counting!
From CARE- Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts
This week we are very proud to be celebrating our 2,000 FREE community spay and neuter surgery!
When you consider the statistics that one un-spayed female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in six years we know we are saving lives and making a difference to the community every day!
18 months ago we were very fortunate to receive some great financial support from a wonderful couple, which as we reported back in April 2014, this generous donation would enable us to push forward with our Community Spay and Neuter campaign and we are thrilled to say it truly is going from strength to strength and we now average 50 community spay and neuter surgeries a month.
We have been working tirelessly over the past 18 months actively promoting and providing free spay and neuter services throughout all of the communities here in Grand Cayman, our current marketing campaign #ididmypart is doing so well, with the purpose of empowering the community to do their part by being responsible pet owners and signing up their pets for FREE spay and neuter surgery through our program.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who is helping make this happen, from the overwhelming support from Island Veterinary Services, to the volunteers who help to spread the word, door to door campaigning or spending Saturday mornings at the entrance of one of the Fosters supermarket, promoting our program and getting people to sign their pet’s up for surgery and thank you also to those volunteers who help with transportation of dogs and cats to the clinic – we know we could not achieve such numbers without you and for that we are so very thankful.
We will to continue to move forward with our Spay and Neuter campaign as we desperately need to end the unnecessary suffering and nuisance caused by pet over population and we know that the only long term solution is to continue to have a program that offers easily accessible and affordable spay and neuter services throughout all of the districts. As the program moves into maturity (3 – 5 years) our campaign will have a significant impact not only on the littering and stray dogs in our community but also on the intake at the shelter and government pound. As a community we all need to do our part #ididmypart.
Please feel free to download our campaign flyer to help spread the word in your workplace or community board and let’s get everyone to do their part.
