OECS presents ‘Climate Fest’ from September 6-8 in Antigua-Barbuda
The OECS Climate Fest is an awareness building exercise to further sensitise the public on climate change and environmental management and conservation. The central theme of the Climate Fest exhibition is “Building a Climate Conscious Society”, which will be demonstrated in various displays and will show the main climate change issues faced by the region and some of the coping strategies being adapted and promoted.
Other exhibitors will feature various aspects of environmental management and conservation. The Climate Fest exposition will include local exhibitors and vendors. Vendors will be invited to sell food items such as smoothies, fruits and vegetables, vegetarian food, herbs and spices as well as local confectionery such as honey, jams, jellies and pastries.
The atmosphere of the exhibition will be vibrant and full of colour, demonstrating creative expressions, entrepreneurship, novelty and simulated gardens to embody the theme of climate change and sustainable development. To add an element of culture, and help create a lively atmosphere, various patterns of traditional fabric will also be used in the decor.
Climate Fest is being held to coincide with the second meeting of the OECS Council Meeting for ministers-environmental sustainability, which is scheduled for September 7 and 8 in Antigua.
The exhibition will also provide information on coping strategies for climate change; and tips on how to minimize impacts on lives, health, livelihoods and property.
“Climate Fest’ is an awareness building exercise under the OECS-USAID Project (known as the RRACC Project).
The RRACC Project is funded by USAID to the tune of US$9.5 million.
