Women in BMW come upon overturned car, steal purse from injured driver

Three women in a BMW came across a car accident in Los Angeles that left one vehicle overturned, but instead of helping the victim, the trio decided to steal the injured driver’s purse.
The incident took place over the Labor Day weekend and was caught on video. The footage shows two women sitting in a parked BMW near a crash that left another SUV lying on its side. Though the alleged theft does not occur on camera, the footage shows people yelling at the women and the purse then flying out of the parked car’s window.
The women — only two are visible, though the video identifies three as being in the BMW — denied stealing the purse.
Video of the women in the BMW stealing a purse from a crash victim has now gone viral, with hundreds of thousands of views and hundreds of comments on both LiveLeak and YouTube. Many were outraged at the actions and wondered why women with enough money to drive a BMW that likely costs more than $40,000 would need to steal a purse from a car crash victim.
Further details on the incident are light. The video’s information claims it takes place over Labor Day weekend but does not say which day.

The story of the women in the BMW stealing a purse from a car crash victim is reminiscent of another recent case. In Detroit, a police sergeant in charge of evidence for a murder case gone cold was spotted wearing the victim’s expensive German watch.
Police in Detroit even contacted the FBI to help find the watch, but then discovered that Sergeant Alex Vinson had reportedly been wearing it. Vinson was suspended, CBS News reported.
According to the Detroit News, Police Chief James Craig was taking the alleged theft of evidence very seriously.
“We were made aware of this a few nights ago and immediately initiated an internal investigation. We directed (Vinson) to return home… The case in ongoing, and the sergeant has been suspended while we prepare a warrant for review by prosecutors.”
Vinson was read his Miranda Rights in officers with internal affairs, Craig noted.
It is not clear if the women in the BMW seen stealing a purse from the crash victim have been arrested. In the video, they are seen being interviewed by a police officer.

One of the key inputs that goes into the price an option buyer is willing to pay, is the time value, so with 858 days until expiration the newly available contracts represent a possible opportunity for sellers of puts or calls to achieve a higher premium than would be available for the contracts with a closer expiration. At Stock Options Channel, our YieldBoost formula has looked up and down the QUNR options chain for the new January 2018 contracts and identified one put and one call contract of particular interest.
The put contract at the $25.00 strike price has a current bid of $6.40. CARIBBEAN: Age of sexual consent raised to 18 in Trinidad and Tobago

TRINIDAD EXPRESS – As of May 18 this year, the age of consent for sexual intercourse in Trinidad and Tobago is now 18.
The Children’s Act of 2012 was proclaimed on May 18 and, in this legislation, the definition of “child” is now “a person under the age of 18 years”.
Prior to May 18, a child was defined as persons under the age of 16 years and the Sexual Offences Act listed various offences for engaging in activities with persons under 16.
However, with the passing of the new legislation, certain sections of the Sexual Offences Act have been repealed, broadening the parameters under which persons can be charged.
During a recent interview with the Express, Christal Chapman, one of the senior legal associates of the Children’s Authority (The Authority) explained the basic provisions of the new Act and how it affects citizens of this country.
“The Children’s Act of 2012 (the Act), came into force on May 18 and when it did, it repealed the previous Children’s Act, as well as certain sections in the Sexual Offences Act. Now what this Act does is it deals with child victims and child offenders and looks at treatment of children and the human rights benefits which should be accorded to them,” said Chapman.
“Now the Act also seeks to put into effect certain obligations which are listed into convention regarding the rights of the child. That convention would have established international standards for treatment of children and Trinidad and Tobago would have ratified to those standards in the early 90s. So in layman’s terms, the Act is putting into effect what we agreed to in this convention,” she explained.
Chapman noted that one of the key changes was increasing the age of the definition of a child because this would have been one of the international standards that this country agreed to.
“Now, prior to this Act, take for instance persons who would be engaging in sexual intercourse, there would have been an offence committed if these persons were under 16. The Sexual Offences Act would have gone on to further specify offences for sex with a female under 14 and then sex with a female who is 14 but not yet 16, and so forth.
“All of that is done away with as of May 18. With the Act, the implications are also not just for giving consent for sex and so forth, but even persons to be charged for offences, and even reporting on children. Let us take for instance something like, previously if you were to commit a sexual assault on someone who is 17 years of age, it would not be considered an offence against a child. With the new Act, you open up the pool of persons who are considered children, and when offences are committed against a child. You have opened up that catchment area,” said Chapman.

Bottling a famed, cultural drink, Jack Summers — known as Jack from Brooklyn whose parents are from Barbados and St. Kitts and Nevis — has turned everyone’s favorite Christmas drink, sorrel, into just that.

Jack’s decision to leave his corporate position did not arrive overnight. Faced with a life-changing cancer scare, Jack’s doctor told him “to get his affairs in order” after they discovered a golf-sized ball in his spine five years ago.

Models splashed in a lagoon surrounded by a sandy boardwalk to end Tommy Hilfiger’s ode to easy island life.
Looking to add some youthful oomph to the heritage brand, Hilfiger built a wooden boardwalk ringed by sand, hung a hammock and constructed a tiki bar in front of a faux sunset.
He sent his models out in multicoloured hats and billowy dresses adorned with flora and fauna inspired by textile artist Josef Frank.
The idea was to vibe off the Caribbean’s Mustique, a playground for rock stars and royalty. And to pay attention to young customers.
A limited-edition silk bomber jacket embroidered with a lion on the back was made available for purchase immediately.
“We basically went back to our roots and made that relevant for today. We decided to really look at our DNA and celebrate who we are as a brand,” Hilfiger said before the show. “When we started doing that, our business just took off again. We elevated everything: the quality, the fit, and we really focused on listening to the customer.”
With new designers sprouting and social media offering a quicker road to success, Hilfiger said his focus is clear.
“Fun, youthful, unique and memorable. It keeps us really on our toes. We should never become complacent, never sit back and relax.
We have to keep thinking of the next, the newest, the next, the newest,” he said.
Among the top models on hand were Gigi Hadid and Victoria Secret’s Behati Prinsloo, who was in the front row before showtime in one of the company’s new bomber jackets. Joe Jonas was there, along with Princess Beatrice of York.
On the catwalk, Hilfiger reinvented the traditional cricket sweater in crochet and polos in netted mesh. T-shirt dresses were done in multicoloured leather and traditional Oxford shirts were treated to some patchwork trim.
And for the feet? Comfy, coloured mules all around.

Jamaica becomes the first Caribbean nation to be featured on Snapchat

Yesterday Snapchat users in Jamaica received a message, notifying them that for 24 hours, Jamaica would be a featured location.
Snapchat is a messaging application for sharing moments and reportedly has over 100 million monthly users.
Users can take photographs or videos, add captions and send them to their friends.
Friends can then view ‘Snaps’ for up to 10 seconds, before they disappear.
Being featured on snapchat is a big deal as it means that for 24 hours we have a grand opportunity to share aspects of Jamaica with many people around the world.
The announcement has created palpable excitement across the island and if the person who tweeted this below is right, it may also be a rewarding day for some of major telecom providers.
Jamaica is the first Caribbean nation to be featured on the popular platform.
Though only a limited number of snaps submitted by Jamaicans will be selected by Snapchat’s curation team for the world to see, many Jamaicans have already submitted snaps highlighting Jamaica in their own way.

St. Maarten successfully observes Caribbean Wellness Day

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – On Saturday September 12th, 2015 Sint Maarten observed Caribbean Wellness Day. A day established by CARICOM since 2007 for awareness and promotion of physical activity through the nation.
This year’s Caribbean Wellness Day focuses on the elderly with the theme: “improving the quality of life of the region’s aging population”. In light of this theme the Ministry of VSA, the Windward Island Physical Therapist Association (WIPTA), and the White and Yellow Cross Foundation came together to organize a day of activities in St John’s Estate.
The focus is on person’s, 60 years of age and older. There will be a variety of sports activities and the participant will be tested on their level of physical abilities by the WIPTA. Due to weather conditions this day was postponed from September 12thto September 19th ,2015.
The District Nursing is a department of the White and Yellow Cross Foundation. The nurses working in this department are the ones who take care of the clients in their home environment. The client is therefore able to stay at his or her own home environment by receiving care customized to their needs.
What is striking within the District Nursing client population is the increasing amount of clients who suffer from diabetes and hypertension. At this moment about 60 % of our clients are diabetics and about 70 % suffer from hypertension. In most cases it’s a combination of both diabetes and hypertension. Results from research show that regular exercise and weight loss have a positive effect on both diabetes and hypertension. Therefore the District Nursing supports and is involved in the Caribbean Wellness Day celebration on the 19th this month.
The District Nursing team serves an average of 150 clients per week. The care varies from support with a daily bath, to wound care, to medication and vital signs controls. We also provide care to clients that are terminally ill. A fairly new product is homecare. This entails care to clients who need support with light cleaning in the house, cooking, laundry and the homecare nurse can transport the client to the doctor’s office. When requested, the homecare nurse also runs errands and does the grocery shopping for the client.

Official: Toronto not bidding for 2024 Olympics

TORONTO (AP) — Toronto will not be bidding to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
An official with knowledge of the decision said late Monday that Canada’s largest city won’t bid. The official spoke on condition as they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Mayor John Tory is due to announce the decision at a news conference on Tuesday morning. He had until Tuesday to write a letter to the IOC to express interest. Other declared bidders for 2024 are Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Budapest, Hungary and Hamburg, Germany.
Tory acknowledged that he began researching the feasibility of a bid only when excitement built for the Pan Am Games. The competition was hosted by Toronto this past summer. Toronto unsuccessfully bid for the 1996 and 2008 Olympics.
Jamaica’s Tourism has greatest potential to create wealth

KINGSTON, Jamaica – “The Tourism sector has the greatest potential to create wealth and can be a catalyst for development,” stated Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism and Entertainment and Chairman of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council, the Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeill, when he addressed members of the UNWTO Working Group on Official Development Assistance (ODA), at its meeting in Medellín, Colombia, on Saturday (September 12).
The sub-committee was established by the world body, whose main role is to promote tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability and offer leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide.
Initiated and chaired by South Africa, the ODA Fund was established to address the unacceptable levels of donor funds to tourism. The sub-committee, whose members include Egypt, France, Kenya and Mexico, held its first meeting in London two years ago to set up the Fund, and approval for its existence will now go to the Congress of the UNWTO for ratification and approval.
Dr. McNeill’s recommendation to the meeting that the sub-committee should continue to exist in order to help define the use of the Fund was agreed to by UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai.
