Cayman Islands: One way traffic flow at ORIA

The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) would like to advise motorists that the lane leading to the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) will soon be one way only. This latest change is part of the new parking revenue system upgrade at the airport. The one way traffic flow will be phased in over the next week. Changes will also be made to the entrance and exit for short term parking and the public is being asked to pay close attention to signage that will be in place.

The Airports Authority would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused and would like to ask for the public’s patience as the CIAA works towards implementing this much needed upgrade in our continuing efforts to improve customer service at the Airport. The one way traffic flow system will be in place by Monday 29 February

WSJ: Bank-stock rout tramples bonuses

By: Stephen Alpher, From Seeking Alpha

Just at Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS), employees have taken $400M in paper losses on their restricted stock paid out as bonus last year, according to the WSJ.JPMorgan

(NYSE:JPM), BofA (NYSE:BAC), Citigroup (NYSE:C), and Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) haven’t yet reported 2015 stock grants, but their share prices have been similarly hit.

Should slumping stock prices persist, it could add to the leakage of talent from Wall Street to tech and other industries, as bankers will be leaving a lot less money on the table.
The issue is a test for new Dodd-Frank rules which forced banks to tailor incentive packages towards rewarding long-term health, rather than short-term profits. The result: Banks are now more likely to award restricted shares which don’t vest for several years.

Cayman Islands: Roadworks Red Bay area Feb 4 – 19

Drivers and pedestrians may have noticed that some road work projects are underway, and the National Roads Authority (NRA) advises that these will continue for some time.

Along the east-west arterial road in the Red Bay area, workers have begun preliminary work for the eventual installation of concrete barriers in the centre median. This stretch of road is between the Red Bay roundabout and the Dr. Tomlinson roundabout.

That project started Thursday 4 February, 2016, beginning with work on the east-bound lane. While work will take place from 7.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. weekdays (and possibly on weekends), little disruption of the traffic flow is expected. The project is expected to continue through 19 February.

Staff have already coned off the inside lane (the safety work-zone area) from traffic, with relevant roadway signs. Motorists are asked to use that road with caution, as the road enhancements proceed.

Following this project, there will be works to enhance Bobby Thompson Way.

Also underway is initial work to prepare for the conversion of the Esterley Tibbetts Highway into four-lanes.
