Carey Olsen’s expansion continues with the hire of four new lawyers in the Cayman Islands
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has expanded its corporate and litigation teams in the Cayman Islands with the appointment of four new associates bringing the number of fee-earners in Cayman to 18.
Robert Coombes, Peter Sherwood, Denis Olarou and Thomas Marriott have all recently been admitted as attorneys-at-law of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and each is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Mr Coombes specialises in corporate practice including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and general advisory work. Prior to joining Carey Olsen he was an associate at Slaughter and May and,during his tenure, he was seconded to a number of clients in Europe as well as to Simpson Thacher & Barlett LLP in New York.
Mr Sherwood advises on all aspects of insolvency litigation, general banking and commercial litigation along with non-contentious insolvency and restructurings. He joined Carey Olsen from Herbert Smith Freehills LLP in the UK where he was a senior associate. Prior to that he was in the insolvency group at Ashurst’s Sydney office and at Dentons LLP in the UK .
Mr Olarou is experienced in a range of complex, multijurisdictional, high-value disputes including corporate fraud, shareholder conflicts and professional negligence acting for and against corporates, high net worth individuals and government entities. Prior to joining Carey Olsen Denis was an associate in the Jones Day global disputes practice in London.
Mr Marriott advises on all aspects of corporate, investment funds and commercial law including private equity, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and the establishment and marketing of private investment funds. Thomas was formerly in London with Ropes & Gray, Reed Smith and Speechly Bircham.
