Cayman Islands Children’s Film Competition Registration extended
The Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) has extended its registration deadline for students wishing to enter their short films in the Young Image Makers (YIM) competition.
Budding filmmakers can now submit their entries now through Wednesday, 13th April, 2016.
The Foundation is allowing students more time over the Easter holidays to work on their films.
Interested persons can submit films to CNCF offices behind Harquail Theatre by 5.00 p.m. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.artscayman.org/young-image-makers , for more details, email [email protected]
- The Young Image Makers (YIM) competition was founded in 2010.
- Children 10 – 17 are invited to submit their films (1 – 3 minutes in length) on any subject.
- Up to 20 students are selected from the entries that are received and these students will be given the opportunity to work with film professionals in an age appropriate filmmaking workshop.
- Students are given additional time after the workshop to make changes and edit their pieces before entering the final round.
- A panel of professional judges including Caymanian writer/director Frank E. Flowers and Emmy Award winning editor Tony Mark provide feedback to students on their work each year.
- YIM will culminate in a red carpet affair at the Harquail Theatre, as part of CayFilm.
- Prizes such as trips to the New York Film Academy for the top two filmmakers are awarded on the evening of the event and the public decides the People’s Choice Award each year.
