LADY EAGLECAT INVITATIONAL FINAL RESULTS

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – The Quinnipiac University women’s golf team completed the second and final round of the Lady Eaglecat Invitational at LPGA International in sixth place out of the 14 team field. Freshman stand-out Lucian Tobia (La Paz, Bolivia) was the Bobcats’ top finisher with a tie for eighth place.

Quinnipiac’s “B” team finished in sixth place while its “A” team finished in 12th out of 14 teams. Winthrop won its home event, followed by Towson and co-host Bethune-Cookman. Sacred Heart and Florida Atlantic slid-in in front of Quinnipiac “B”, followed by Towson “B”, Hartford, Lehigh, Monmouth and Wisconsin-Green Bay ahead of Quinnipiac “A”. Delaware State and Long Island-Brooklyn rounded-out the 14-team field.

Tobia opened the tournament with a 79 on the first day, before following with a 77 (+4) to finish with a two-round total of 156 (+10), breaking her previous best 36-hole score of 157 she shot at the DSU Invitational on Oct. 17-18, 2015. Tobia’s two-stroke improvement came on the strength of a tournament-best four birdies for the second round, doubling her first day birdie total.

2015 All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honoree Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, New York) shot the second-best round of the 76 competing golfers at the event with a 74 (+1) on the second day. Lambrou opened the tournament with an 85 on Monday, but cut 11 strokes for the second round to finish at 159 (+13) and a tie of 14th place. The Bobcats’ senior’s single-day turnaround was the single-best improvement in her career.

The most impressive turn-around of the day likely belongs to Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands). The Bobcats’ junior opened the spring season with a 96 on Monday before following an 84 (+11) on the second day for a 12-stroke improvement.

Freshman Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) continued her steady play with an identical 82 on the second day to pair with her first day total for 164 (+18) and a tie of 25th place. Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island), also a 2015 All-MAAC selection, shed six strokes on her first day total to finish tied for 37th.

Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) had an impressive season debut on Monday, but struggled on the second day. Morales’ 79 on Monday turned into an 87 on Tuesday for a two-round tally of 166 (+20).

The Bobcats return to action at the Bearcat Spring Classic hosted by the University of Cincinatti on Mar. 25-26 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
