“It Is Well With My Soul” was the theme for the annual Cayman Male Voice Choir’s Easter offering last Good Friday and the title of the cantata that was the highlight of the concert.

After watching and even just listening (Radio Cayman carried the concert live) all should have been well with your soul.

Even with the sound problems and the backing track refusing to play on one of the youngest soloists vocal performance, nothing could mar the evening.

As MC John McMillan said, “Satan tried hard but Satan lost!”

And the choir this year was graced with two songs from the North Side Men’s Group and the only missing item was the saxophone playing by the centurion Wellesley Howell who “unfortunately couldn’t make it tonight”. Two young musicians proving saxophone playing is alive and well took his place.

There was certainly a variety of performances and stand out for me was the violin and cello duet during the collection. The cello was played by the Elmslie choir director Antonio Sanchez and his fellow musician was not named although I was told he hails, as Antonio does, from Cuba. After their performance there were cries of “More”. Unfortunately we were all to be Oliver Twists.

Well done again to Cayman Male Voice choir and Easter would not be complete, especially from the saw playing of Kenneth Melville.

I am sure someone SAW Jesus during his performance.
