April has become the most fashionable month in the Cayman Islands. The month features Cayman’s top and the region’s premier fashion event, Cayman Islands Fashion Week. With a spectacular week of fashion festivities set to take place from April 15th – 25th, the week is set to impress.

The events will kick off with an official launch party at Lillies on April 15th and run through to April 23rd, which will showcase the official runway show themed “Follow Fashion” at the Lion’s Center.

“Cayman Islands Fashion Week will be introducing a host of new events this year as we continue to grow the event and ensure a week long of activities” said Cindy Rosan-Jones, the Executive Producer of Cayman Islands Fashion Week and Managing Partner of Guavaberry Marketing. The line-up for the 2016 event include events such as CIFW Swim, which is the newly introduced official Swimsuit runway show for CIFW being showcased at Royal Palms on Sunday April 17th and will see a range of local, regional and international swimsuit designers including Nikini Swimwear out of New York and WildFree Forever out of Jamaica. The week of events will also showcase our Culture & Style White Welcome Party at Royal Palms on Thursday April 21st and the ‘MyStyle Soiree at XQ’s Restaurant & Lounge on Friday April 22nd.

Cayman Islands Fashion Week will once more feature a grand lineup of local, regional and international designers such as Michael Allen Stein out of Chicago, Project Runway winner Irina Shabeyava out of New York, Norma Ebanks, Isy B & K.Rose from the Cayman Islands and a host of other local impressive designers such as Olivia B.

The runway show will open in opulent style with our Bridal selection and we are looking forward to featuring our Children once more in this year’s show. Former Miss Universe Jamaica and Miss Universe runner-up, Kaci Fennell and Celebrity Entertainer Corr Kendricks who has been featured on Fox hit show Empire, will Host the 2016 event. Another major feature of our main show this year will be our ‘On the Red Carpet with CIFW’ which will be hosted by international celebrity red carpet host, Roxy Manning, Editor-in-Chief/Founder of RedCarpetRoxy.com out of Los Angeles.

This year, the event will also proudly feature our youngest design talent yet with Caymanian Design talent, 11-year old Rochelle Ebanks and 15 year old Angelica Dodds.

I can safely say that I think quite a few important persons still have not grasped its importance. We’ve seen local designers rise to prominence, launch their brands, seen them go international, sent them off to school; created a platform for our local models to be exposed to the international world of Modeling. We’ve seen stores open with confidence, sales in stores have grown exponentially, businesses such as Stylists and Makeup Artists have come of importance, the interest in fashion journalism and video and photography is on the rise; and here, you have such young talent feeling confident enough to launch into a design career at such tender ages. Despite the trials, we are indeed extremely proud of what has been created through the CIFW platform.” Cindy Rosan-Jones.
