Jeff Consiglio600 Films and Counting…
We are so excited to tell you that 600+ films have been submitted so far for CayFilm 2016! We also have at least five returning filmmakers that are showing new films this year after having a wonderful experience here last year, and we are working on having at least ten premieres at CayFilm. The deadline for film submissions is next week Friday, 22 April and filmmakers can submit via Film Freeway at https://filmfreeway.com/festival/CayFilm.

Lying, Cheating and Stealing: The Art of Honest Storytelling
Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Jeff Consiglio, editor of the Academy Award-winning documentary short film Inocente and producer of the SXSW Award-winning documentary feature film Twinsters will be presenting his original film seminar at CayFilm this year. This entertaining talk, which is quite popular on the festival circuit, will reveal the lies that make up the truth — or not — in all visual storytelling, from fiction film to nonfiction film and even mass media. Should be an interesting talk! (More info and a photo attached)

Jeff will also be bringing his latest film, Best and Most Beautiful Things, to Cayman for its Caribbean premiere and will do a Q&A session after the screening alongside the film’s director Garrett Zevgetis.

Well, basically filmmakers from all over Cayman are going to compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours!!! The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2017 for a chance at the grand prize and a chance to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2017. What an amazing opportunity for filmmakers in Cayman! The kick-off event is Friday, 24 June and the films are submitted on Sunday, 26 June. There’ll be a wrap party on Monday, 4 July at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. You can get more info at http://www.48hourfilm.com/grand-cayman.
