Cayman Islands Health City MOU to benefit regional Adventist hospitals

Health City MOUA memorandum of understanding was signed last month in Miami, Florida, between administrators of Health City Cayman Islands and the Seventh-day Adventist healthcare agency overseeing regional Adventist hospitals, Adventist Healthcare Services Inter-America (AHS-IA).

The 18 April 2016 signing took place at the Adventist Church’s Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarters in Miami, Florida, with dozens of top regional administrators in attendance.

The MoU will facilitate provision by Heath City of affordable medical care, education and training, and access to affordable medical supplies for six Adventist hospitals in the Caribbean and Latin America. Adventist leaders hope that this agreement can be extended in time to the rest of the 14 hospitals managed and operated by the Adventist Healthcare Services Inter-America.

In facilitating access to professional, technical and other resources, the relationships with Health City will ultimately result in consistency of standards across all Adventist hospitals in the Caribbean and Latin America, Adventist health administrators believe.

Caribbean Adventist hospitals benefitting from the MoU are Andrews Hospital in Jamaica, Community Hospital in Trinidad, Antillean Adventist Hospital in Curacao, Vista del Jardin Medical Center in Dominican Republic, and Haiti Adventist Hospital in Haiti. A hospital in Mexico completes the package.

Attending the 18 April 2016 signing ceremony on Health City’s behalf were Assistant Chaplin Pastor Sethres Dixon, Project Director Gene Thompson, and CEO Dr. Chandy Abraham.  Mr. Thompson and Dr. Abraham signed the MOU on behalf of Health City, while President Ellie Honore represented Adventist Healthcare Services, and Pastor Israeil Leito, regional president, signed for the church.

“We are honored to be part of this project,” Dr. Abraham said, as he addressed church leaders on 18 April 2016. “The Seventh-day Adventist Church has mission hospitals across the Caribbean islands which align with the way we think.”

The signing took place at the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarters in Miami, Florida, with dozens of top administrators from the major church regions in attendance.

Health City is a Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital, providing world class affordable medical care.
