Eleven (11) Cayman Brac Customs Officers received refresher training in various Customs and other related Laws, general procedures and techniques last month.

The training was conducted by Deputy Collector of Customs Marlon Bodden and Assistant Collector of Customs Philip West of Grand Cayman Customs, Border Protection Portfolio, between 11 and 15 April 2016 at the Cayman Brac Heritage House and District Administration Building.

Upon conclusion, the participants received certificates from Collector of Customs Charles Clifford who said: “I am delighted with the quality of refresher training provided. While the officers were well experienced even before the training, refresher training and effective upskilling are vitally necessary from time to time. To effectively negotiate the complex world we live in, we need awareness and focused strategies.”

Deputy Collector of Customs Marlon Bodden emphasised, “Modernised training is critical not only to refresh officers’ knowledge but also in maintaining consistent performance by retaining the potential of the organisation and outcomes as a whole”.

Collector of Customs Charles Clifford also took the opportunity while in Cayman Brac to meet with the Deputy Premier and Minister of District Administration, Hon. Moses Kirkconnell, JP, and the District Commissioner, Mr. Ernie Scott, JP, to discuss reporting and budget arrangements for Cayman Brac Customs.

Mr. Clifford commented: “I am grateful to the Honourable Deputy Premier and the District Commissioner for the courtesies extended to me during my brief visit to Cayman Brac and I look forward to working with them as we seek to ensure consistency in our Customs operations across all three of our islands.”

Mr. Clifford also had strategy meetings with the Cayman Brac Port Manager, Mr. Dale Christian, and the Officer-In-Charge of the Cayman Brac Police, Inspector Wendy Parchment.
