Man shot in the back near Countryside
A man was treated in hospital after he was shot in Countryside.
Police were called to the scene on Hirst Road around 3pm on Thursday.
The victim told police he flagged down a passing car that took him to hospital where he was treated for superficial injuries to his back.
A spokeswoman for the RCIPS said: “We can confirm that around 3.00 pm Thursday a man attended at the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town suffering from what is believed to be a gun shot wound.
“He is currently being treated for what are described as superficial injuries to his back.
“The male has informed officers that he was shot in the vicinity of Countryside shopping plaza.
“Thus far no reports of gunshots in or around the vicinity of Countryside have been received by police.
“Police enquiries are ongoing and further information will be made available in due course.
“The man states that the incident happened on Hirst Road near the Countryside shopping plaza at approximately 2.30pm today.
“He states he flagged down a dark blue small Hyundai vehicle which was driven by a male with dreadlocks. This person took him to the hospital.
“We would ask the driver of that car to contact the police as soon as possible on 949-4222.”
