An investigation has been launched following the death of a diver.

About 10.40a.m Monday 23 January 2012,  police were informed that a 68-year-old man had lost consciousness on a private boat which was making its way back to the Lobster Pot dock.

It appears that the man had been diving with some friends and, a short time after getting back onboard the boat, he collapsed and lost consciousness.

On arrival at the dock he was conveyed to the Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The man is a Cayman Islands resident from West Bay.

Enquiries into the death are ongoing.
