The International College of the Cayman Islands is well on its way to earning a second stamp of approval from an international accrediting body.

The U.K. based Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities has announced ICCI as a candidate for accreditation.

“It’s very exciting,” says ICCI President David Marshall. “Quality assurance is an important part of the ICCI brand. We want to do everything possible to ensure our students are attending a high-quality institution and getting value for the tuition dollars they pay.”

An ASIC inspector will arrive in Cayman in a matter of weeks to complete the process. Based on the inspector’s report and a favorable recommendation, ICCI could earn full accreditation by September.

ASIC is an accreditation body for private colleges offering academic, technical and vocational training. The organization has accredited schools all over the world, including in the U.S., India, Malaysia and Botswana, as well as more than 100 private colleges in the U.K. ASIC accreditation is for the institution as a whole.

“Although ICCI has been U.S. accredited since 1979 as a degree granting institution, we feel it’s very important to expand our scope of recognition from agencies around the world,” says Marshall. If secured, ASIC accreditation would open up additional doors internationally for our students in addition to validating the excellent educational reputation ICCI has earned during its 45 years.”

ICCI is also in the final stages of seeking accreditation from the U.S. based International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education for its business programs. An IACBE inspection team is due to visit the College in November.
