Civil servants dress down for ‘Mango Season’

Loooky Ya Dress DownCayman Islands civil servants and staff members of the Cayman Islands National Museum dressed down to fundraise for the upcoming ‘Looky Ya! Mango Season’ event at the National Museum.

T-shirts were sold downstairs in the Government Administration Building for a few days, raising nearly $1,000 for the conservation and preservation of the museum building and public education programmes. Those who purchased the shirts were invited to take photos to show their support.

The main event, the brainchild of Museum Board Chair Alfonso Wright, which celebrates the centrality of the mango in Caymanian pastimes and homes, takes place on Saturday 16 July 2016, from 3−8pm at the National Museum on the Waterfront, George Town. Admission is free to the public.

There will be mango products, local dishes, a mango peeling and eating competition, arts and crafts and many fun opportunities for the entire family. There will also be music performed by local musicians, Cotterell, Dennom Bodden and the Cayman Folk Singers.

The t-shirts will continue to be on sale in the museum shop.
