CIG interns appreciated
On Tuesday, 26 July 2016, civil service interns, the Acting Governor Mr. Franz Manderson, Ministers, Chief Officers, Heads of Department and HR Managers attended a special event thanking interns for their contributions over the summer.
Serving as MC at the ceremony, Acting Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service (POCS) Deloris Gordon, noted that CIG had hired more than 116 interns this year.
Departments with the highest numbers included the Department of Immigration with 17 interns, Public Works Department with 16 interns, and District Administration in Cayman Brac with 13 interns.
After being serenaded by Ministry of Health and Culture intern, Lucille Williams-Fernandez, who sang the national song, attendees heard from Acting Deputy Governor, Gloria McField-Nixon, JP.
She encouraged interns to return, congratulating them on the responsible use of their time and the talents that they have developed during internships.
Following this speech, Portfolio of the Civil Service intern, Deondra Kelly spoke, sharing some inspirational life lessons from the book ‘The Alchemist’, including the saying, “Fear is a bigger obstacle than the obstacle itself”.
This was the second annual CIG ‘Summer Interns Farewell Reception’ facilitated by Portfolio of the Civil Service (PoCS).
