Cayman Islands coach arrested in Miami. Wanted here for sex crime
Extradition proceedings have begun by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service to have a sports coach brought back to the Cayman Islands to face allegations of indecent assault with at least one teenage girl he was coaching.
The coach is a US citizen and lived in Bodden Town. He is 37 years of age.
He faces two charges of indecent assault, one charge of gross indecency and one charge of misuse of the ICTA network.
He left Cayman in February after messages he sent to the teenager were found on her phone.
A warrant for his arrest was issued in June.
Cayman Islands Government publishes changes to Misuse of Drugs Law
The government in Cayman has published changes to the Misuse of Drugs Law to accommodate for the importation and dispensing of medical cannabis extracts and tinctures so doctors can prescribe, administer or supply it. If the public has any comments or concerns they have 21 days from when it was published (Aug 22) before it is accepted and debated in the Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly.

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – Premier Alden McLaughlin is in full support of changes to the Misuse of Drugs Act that would make the Cayman Islands the first Caribbean nation to have a functioning medical cannabis program. The rules changes published by the island government are still subject to a 21-day public comment period, followed by debate in the Legislative Assembly. The law would allow doctors to prescribe extracts and tinctures of cannabis; however, cannabis plants would not be grown and processed on the islands. The law will only allow for the importation of the cannabis oils and tinctures.

Squirrel escapes from hungry hawk with an impressive jump

Wildlife YouTuber John Dunstan recently spotted a lucky squirrel escaping the clutches of a hungry hawk looking for a meal in New Jersey’s Lincoln Park.
Fortunately, the squirrel had some agile jumping skills and was able to escape to a more secure branch.

Is there anything this man can’t do?
The fastest athlete in the world, Usain Bolt dominated at the Rio Olympics by taking home three gold medals. But it appears he wasn’t done showing us his athletic ability.
Following his press conference on Saturday after winning his ninth Olympic medal, Bolt returned to a darkened Olympic Stadium for a final encore.
The sprinter encouraged the crowd to clap along as he prepared for his javelin debut. As the small crowd of volunteers cheered him on, Bolt threw a javelin like he’d been practicing his whole life. The moment was documented by French journalist Franck Ballanger.
The skillful throw — which measured 56 meters — would have earned him sixth place at this year’s Jamaican National Championships, according to ABC News. It was a little bit less than Thomas Röhler’s gold medal throw of 90.3 meters, but you can’t win everything.
The mighty Aletsch Glacier is melting
Stretching over 23 kilometres, the Aletsch Glacier in canton Valais is the longest in Europe, measuring 1.5 kilometres wide on average and 900 metres at its thickest point.
From its source in the Jungfrau mountain region at over 4,000 metres, the glacier flows down the valley at speeds of up to 200m a year. But in recent times it has also been beating a major retreat.
“Over the past 40 years, the end of the glacier has shrunk by 1,300 metres,” explains Laudo Albrecht, director of Pro Natura’s Aletsch Centre, located near Riederalp in the heart of the Aletsch region. “But it’s not just shorter; it’s also 200m thinner.”
And things may get much worse over the coming decades. If it continues to melt at this current rate, by the end of this century the surface of the Aletsch Glacier could shrivel from 118 square kilometres (2010) to 35km2, leaving a volume of ice of 1.7 cubic kilometres or less than 10% its current volume, warns the Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU).
As the glacier retreats, small landslides have been observed in the valley where two geological plates meet. The moving landscape has been a challenge for developers. The Moosfluh cable car, which opened in December 2015, was built with an innovative design that takes into account rock movements of 11 metres horizontal to the northwest and nine metres vertical in the next 25 years.

His Principal Private Secretary Bernard Woolley, is usually caught between the two. The British comedy, written by Sir Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, was fist broadcast by BBC Television in the 1980s has now been adapted to the Cayman stage by Chuck and Barrie Quappe. As the Cayman Parliamentary system is based on Whitehall, any of the situations will be undeniably familiar to all that live in Cayman!

All vendors must comply with the rules and regulations set by the Pirates Week Festival Office and must present a valid Food Handling Certificate for all persons handing food by the 31st October. Food handling certificates can be obtained from the Department of Environmental Health by contacting Mr. Gideon Simms on 949-6696 or email [email protected] .

Conservation Council Meeting 24 August 2016
The National Conservation Council will hold a general meeting on Wednesday August 24th, 2016, from 2pm to 5pm in the ground floor meeting room (1038) of the Government Administration Building (Grand Cayman). Post Offices Close Temporarily on Wednesday
Post Offices on Grand Cayman will be closed for two hours on Wednesday, 24 August 2016, to facilitate a staff function.
The closure, from 12noon to 2:00p.m., includes the General Post Office, Airport Post Office and all district sub-post offices. All offices will re-open for normal business hours at 2:00p.m. that afternoon.
Post Offices on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman will NOT be affected, and will operate according to normal hours.

Cayman Islands: LCCL applicants must advise TBL board of Caymanian participation
In order to ensure that the law is upheld, procedural changes for the Local Companies (Control) Licence Law (LCCL) will come into effect on 1 September 2016.
The LCCL requires foreign investors to publish ads that solicit Caymanian participation in their potential business endeavours. In these ads, Caymanians are asked to inform the foreign investor of their interest, in writing; however, as of 1 September, Caymanians also must supply a copy of that letter directly to the Trade and Business Licensing Board.
Also, when submitting their applications to the board, foreign investors must include copies of the two local newspaper ads, published in accordance with section 11 (4) (e) of the law, that solicited Caymanian participation.
‘These procedural changes will help the board to know if the applicant has complied fully with the LCCL’, said Minister of Commerce Wayne Panton.
LCCL applications must be submitted in person at the Business Licensing Counter, on the first floor of the Government Administration Building. The counter is open Mondays to Fridays, between 9:00am and 4:00pm. In addition to the two newspaper ads, applications must be accompanied by due diligence such as a police clearance, copies of passports, references, and the relevant fees.
Letters from Caymanians are to be addressed to the Trade and Business Licensing Board, c/o the Department of Commerce and Investment, Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Avenue Suite 126, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
