Double “Law Firm Of the Year” sweep for Cayman Islands law firm at international awards event
Ogier has started the year by scooping two major Law Firm of the Year titles at the prestigious Citywealth IFC Awards – including winning the Caribbean Law Firm of the Year award for the second year in a row.
The firm took the “Law Firm of the Year – Caribbean” category for the second year running, and also won “Law Firm of the Year – Jersey”.
The awards were collected by Ogier’s Global Head of Corporate and Commercial Law Simon Dinning, at the industry gala at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London last night.
He was joined at the event by senior associate Sevyn Kalsi from the Jersey private client and trusts team – last year Sevyn was named in both the Citywealth Leaders and Future Leaders lists, as well as eprivateclient’s “Top 35 Under 35” list.
The Citywealth IFC awards highlight excellence in private wealth, and are judged by an international panel, with criteria stressing technical expertise, innovative solutions, client service initiatives, leadership and vision.
The awards come with Ogier poised to announce the recruitment of new partners in the private client and trusts teams in both Cayman and Jersey, as part of a growth strategy that has seen new partners promoted or recruited in each of the firm’s six jurisdictions.
Ogier Global Managing Partner Edward Mackereth said: “This is a great start to 2017 for everybody in the Ogier team.
“The award is the result of a huge amount of hard work by the teams in BVI, Cayman and Jersey, and builds on the awards success last year during which the firm was named Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers Europe, Hedgeweek Global and the Alpha Awards.
“We have a team of lawyers who demonstrate enormous quality and breadth of experience, and this award reflects their skill and commitment to driving the best results for clients.”
In 2016, Ogier was named Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers Europe, Hedgeweek Global Awards and the Alpha Awards, following up on similar awards from The Lawyer and STEP the previous year.
The firm has also won awards for Best Rebranding Campaign and High Yield Deal of the Year in the last 12 months.
