‘Dane & Courtney in the Morning’ begins February 1st

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS, January 31, 2017– Irie 98.9FM, broadcasting group Hurley’s Media’s “Riddim Station”, is launching a new morning show on February 1st. Dane & Courtney in the Morning, featuring “Drama” Dane Ramoon and Courtney McTaggart will air from 6am to 10am each weekday.

Hurley’s Media Marketing & PR Manager Tina Trumbach said, “We are excited to be launching a new morning show that features two popular and well-known Caymanian broadcasting personalities.”

Dane Ramoon is well-known to Cayman’s radio listeners, having been a popular morning show personality locally for several years. Courtney McTaggart also boasts local radio experience, and is the current host of the Discover Cayman television channel.

Dane said, “Broadcasting has always been in my blood and I believe it’s something I will be doing for the rest of my life. I started my radio career in a closet in my bedroom. I would wait for the end of a song, and use my 13 year old voice to introduce the next song. I’ve managed to turn my dreams into reality and successfully conquer my radio dreams. Having been in radio for 14 years I am humbled and blessed by the opportunities I have been awarded such as broadcasting in countries such as Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada and Australia and I look forward to what the future holds.”

Courtney said, “”Because I come from a musical family, I have always been really appreciative of all genres and I’m talking about anything from Heavy Metal to Big Band music from the 40’s. However, growing up in the Caribbean, I found myself so drawn to dancehall in particular and the culture surrounding it. Once I was old enough, I was flying to Jamaica almost every month for a few years just submerging myself in the “scene” – getting to see some of my favourite artists like Vybz Kartel & Popcaan perform whether it be at concerts or random club appearances, was such a huge thing to me.”

She continued, “I don’t find that I’m generally ‘star struck’ by celebrities but, seeing these artists perform songs that sparked that initial fire for me was somewhat nostalgic and surreal. I definitely felt like I was watching history in the making; for instance seeing Popcaan in his early days performing at Street Vybz next to Vybz Kartel. I think that’s why this transition to IRIE has been such a natural one for me. I love the music, I know a lot about it and it’s something I’m just really excited to be a part of.”

The show will be an energizing, high energy programme featuring entertaining segments, as well as humorous banter between the co-hosts.

The Wake-up Call Mix with DJ Von HD will start off the morning on Irie 98.9FM at 6am. Morning Sickness will feature what’s trending around the Caribbean and the world.

The Fear Box will ask listeners to ace their fear by reaching in a box to figure out if it’s your biggest fear or just something simple.

The Ask our Momma P segment will invite listeners ask the Irie 98.9FM “mom” for advice on life.
In the Real Friends segment, listeners will see if their boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend are really real friends as Dane & Courtney put them to the test.

In Let’s Replay, Dane & Courtney will replay their best segment of the morning show

Throughout the show will be Time Checks, giving listeners a time check at the top of every hour.
In Donkey of the Week, Drama Dane will bring the drama on somebody that needs to hear the truth.
On Monday mornings, listeners will get some Morning Inspiration.

And daily, there will also be a Weather Check, Gossip, plus the Real Joka odd news segment featuring the dumbest news that Dane & Courtney can find.
