Saint Lucia: Community outreach on Pearl of the Caribbean continues
Press Release:-The Government of Saint Lucia is continuing its informative and consultative sessions on the Pearl of the Caribbean project earmarked for Vieux Fort.
This evening the Government will hold a Town Hall meeting to provide the public with factual information about the project and to answer any questions they may have.
This evening’s exercise will be held at the Vieux Fort Primary School from 6:00 p.m. with presentations to be made by Invest Saint Lucia, the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Cooperatives and Equine Industry experts.
“So far the feedback from the meetings we have had and been setting up has been very positive,” said Senior Communications Officer for the Government Nicole Mc Donald. “People have been concerned about how they can get jobs and training and we have allayed some of the fear mongering and fake news which has been circulating in terms of access to the beaches and land use. The informative exercises we are engaging in are part of our continuing drive to spread the facts with relation to this project which is poised to have a very positive impact on the economy of Saint Lucia and to the south of island which has long been neglected.”
The Government also plans next week to engage the youth in Vieux Fort and the business community.
The Pearl of the Caribbean is set to be Saint Lucia’s first fully integrated development which will bring international attention to Saint Lucia and make the island an even more unique Caribbean destination.
