Cayman Islands’ Kareem Streete-Thompson joins the Broadcast team for Flow CARIFTA Games
Streete-Thompson is currently the Associate Head Track and Field coach at the University of Texas, San Antonio and is well qualified to commentate on the CARIFTA Games that seek out young, upcoming talent from across the Caribbean region.
He still currently holds the Austin Sealy award for the U-17 and U-20 long jump records at the CARIFTA Games and is the only athlete in history besides Carl Lewis to have jumped over 8.50m in the long jump and run under 10 seconds in the 100m.
Flow now in its 2nd year as the Official Broadcast Partner and Sponsor of the Flow CARIFTA Games will bring six hours of live coverage each day to sports fans across the Caribbean, so customers will be able to watch all the action, as it happens whether at home or on the go via the Flow Sports app on their Android or iOS smart devices.
Victor Salgado, CEO Flow Cayman said “we’re delighted that Kareem is going to be a part of the Broadcast team as he has a wealth of athletics experience. We’re also super excited for customers to be able to watch live coverage of the CARIFTA Games for the second year running. Many of our young people will be travelling to compete and for those members of the family who are unable to travel they are still able to watch and cheer on their loved ones.”
Streete-Thompson represented the Cayman Islands in the long jump and 100m competitions at the Barcelona, Sydney and Athens Olympic Games respectively. He won a silver medal in the long jump at the 2001 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Lisbon, Portugal and followed that up in 2002 with a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England.
