Cayman Parliamentarians hold moment of silence after Westminster attack
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – Cayman Islands Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin requested a moment of silence in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday in the spirit of empathy for those impacted by a terror attack in London.
“We express, on behalf of all members of this House, the concern and horror at what appears to be a terror attack on Westminster Bridge and the precincts of the House of Parliament at Westminster Palace in London,” said Mr. McLaughlin.
The BBC reported Wednesday afternoon that four people, including an armed police officer and a man believed to be the attacker, had died in a terrorist incident near the UK’s Houses of Parliament.
A woman was among several pedestrians struck by a car on Westminster Bridge, before it crashed into railings. She was pulled alive from the River Thames.
The officer was stabbed in the Houses of Parliament by an attacker, who was shot by police.
At least 20 people were injured, including three other officers.
“I would ask that all members of the House stand for a moment of silence as an expression of our sadness over what has transpired and our empathy and solidarity with the United Kingdom, Parliament, the people affected and indeed the citizens of London and more broadly the UK,” said Mr. McLaughlin.
According to the BBC, the French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said three French school pupils were among the injured and offered “solidarity with our British friends, and full support” for the wounded students and their families.
Inside Scotland Yard, teams of detectives began working on the next critical phase – establishing the suspect’s movements, whether he acted alone and, in tandem with their colleagues on the street, making sure London is as secure as it can be in light of these awful events.
Westminster remains locked down and it will remain so until Scotland Yard is certain the threat has been contained.

EXCLUSIVE
By Corey Charlton and Brittany Vonow From The Sun UK
WITNESSES to the carnage on Westminster Bridge have told how one person was thrown over the edge of the bridge and others left bleeding with horrific head wounds.
A witness told The Sun Online: “I was just walking up to Parliament just about to walk in the steps.
“I wasn’t looking when it happened but I saw the aftermath. (The driver) just went on the pavement and trampled a lot of people.
“There was a woman at the top of the steps her head was just pulsing with blood and bleeding out and there was another woman who flipped over the side of the bridge.
“She was not in a good state and there were a load of bodies on the road.
“Someone was flipped over the bridge with head wounds. There’s lots of people with head wounds.”
Rob Smith was running past Westminster when he said he saw the drama unfolded, said: (The) grey Hyundai car came across the bridge then across the cycle lane, hit a man on a bike and drive into the wall gates.
He said that officers had been drawing their guns as they ran out.
Scotland Yard has since released a statement asking people to avoid: Parliament Square; Whitehall; Westminster Bridge; Lambeth Bridge; Victoria Street up to the junction with Broadway and the Victoria Embankment up to Embankment tube.
“This is to allow the emergency services to deal with the ongoing incident.
“Officers – including firearms officers – remain on the scene and we are treating this as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise. We thank the public for their assistance.”
