BVI: Ogier supports first science fair at sponsored school
Ogier partner Michael Killourhy had the job of judging the Joyce Samuel Primary School’s first ever science fair last Friday.
Ogier has been supporting the school since “adopting” it in 2010 – Joyce Samuel Primary School is the current BVI Primary School of the Year and its head was named primary Principal of the Year in the BVI’s Stars in Education awards.
After completing his duties, Michael said “It was a great honour to be asked to help. The judging was quite a task though, all of the children had worked incredibly hard and the standards were very high, picking out individual winners was not easy.
“While in the end though there had to be some who walked away with prizes, really the whole school was the winner and the event was a true showcase of the talent, effort and achievement of pupils and staff alike.”
Since 2010 the firm has assisted the school in a number of ways from helping out at school celebrations, to running a successful reading programme (which many members of Ogier’s staff have participated in) and to providing funds for the purchase of equipment or for school projects such as new gardening area, a new PA system and their learning-through-play equipment.
