100 miles around Grand Cayman to combat childhood hunger
Registered cyclists are invited to check in between 4:00am and 4:50am at Pappagallo in West Bay to cycle 100 miles around the island. A ride briefing will take place prior to race time at 4:50am. Teams of 5 riders are invited to compete to complete the Century route of 20-miles and teams of 2 will battle for the 50-mile mark. Prizes will be awarded thanks to sponsors.
Registration fee of CI $75 includes FOF 2017 Commemorative Cycling Jersey, pasta salad lunch courtesy of Pappagallo and refreshments throughout the event. For CI $25 individuals may enjoy lunch, refreshments and participate in the Century Ride less the cycling jersey.
Interested participants may register online at caymanactive.com before 6pm on Friday, April 7th and cycling jerseys along with food tickets will be available for collection opposite Bay Market in Camana Bay on Saturday April 8th between 9am and 12pm.
“Our partnership with CICA has fed over 1500 students in need in past years. Our progress in positively impacting and feeding Cayman’s youth is only possible through the generosity of our community partners, sponsors and supporters, whom are all are integral to the ongoing success of this event,” said Stacey VanDevelde, Feed Our Future Chairwoman.
“The CICA aim to develop this event into the largest and most successful cycling event on Island, we take our role of providing nutritional support to the children of Cayman Islands very seriously and encourage riders and spectators to come out and show their support. We donated a total of CI$14,000 over the past 2 years to support this extremely important and worthy cause” said Craig Merren, President of the Cayman Islands Cycling Association.
Water and rest stops will be located at key points throughout the route: South Sound Boat Ramp, the Frank Sound Junction, the East End Public Beach (restrooms), Chisholm Supermarket in North Side and Rum Point (restrooms).
