Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (21 April 2017) Three long serving Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) staff members have been officially validated as Air Traffic Control (ATC) Examiners. ATC Manager Erick Bodden, Airport Operations Manager Robert Harris and ATC Supervisor Robert Boggess received their license and certificate of competence on Thursday, 23 March.

The validation will allow the new examiners to carry out second and subsequent rating examinations for Air Traffic Controllers, in conjunction with the Civil Aviation Authority Cayman Islands (CAACI). They will also be able to: provide second opinions on the progress of Air Traffic Control trainees and their readiness for validation, carry out competency checks on On-the Job Training Instructors and Air Traffic Control officers in accordance with the schedule identified in the Local Competency Scheme, prepare written examinations in conjunction with the CAACI, and prepare simulator exercises in conjunction with the CAACI.

Ebanks.

The Air Traffic Control Unit is one of many specialized departments at the CIAA and controllers have to constantly grow and develop in order to stay current with the latest technological advancements, industry best practices/standards, and strict international regulatory mandates.
