Cayman Islands police operation South Sound-firearm/ammunition recovered

Police carried out a planned operation in the South Sound area on the 2nd May 2017 at a residential premises.
As a result of the operation a 24 year old male and a 18 year old female were arrested on firearm offences, a firearm and ammunition were recovered.
The operation passed off without any incident.
The male has been subsequently charged with two counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm (firearm and ammunition) and will be appearing in court today.
The female has been released on police bail.
Chief Inspector Owens commented, “THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A ROBUST AND QUICK RESPONSE TO REMOVING FIREARMS OF OUR STREETS AND THE POTENTIAL OF HARM THAT CAN BE DONE TO THE PUBLIC”.
