Cayman Islands Celebrates the Queen’s Birthday
The Cayman Islands celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 91st birthday today (Saturday, 17 June 2017), at Elmslie Memorial United Church.
The programme included the traditional parade by the uniformed services, a royal salute and three cheers for the Queen.
During the celebration Her Excellency the Governor, Mrs. Helen Kilpatrick, recognise past and current recipients of Queen’s Honours.
Best known as the “Father of the Immigration Board” and for his generous contributions to the Cayman Islands community Charles Wesley Watler was the sole recipient of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) award.
Mr. Philip Rankin was honoured with the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour for his services to the financial services industry, and in particular the Board of Cayman Airways.
Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, announced the newest individuals to receive the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour.
The recipients are businessman Mr. Keith Parker Tibbetts Jr, for services to persons with disabilities, and Mrs. Frances Mary McConvey, for services to for services to education, the arts, culture and the community.
