Miss Teen Cayman Islands Contestants were officially sashed by their sponsors on Saturday, July 22nd at a Reception hosted at The Wharf Restaurant.  The ceremony was a prelude to the various activities leading up to the Miss Teen Cayman Islands pageant.

The contestants thanked their sponsors and the Pageant Committee for all the work that is being done and each one said they are already reaping the benefits of their training.

The Miss Teen Organising Committee says that with the support of family and sponsors, the pageant will once again be a very exciting one.  Each participant will show off her individual talent which promises to be spectacular but they will also demonstrate the confidence they have gained through their rigorous training programme.

Miss Teen contestants will be heading to Cayman Brac on a day trip on August 5th compliments of the Ministry of Tourism, where they will be given a historical tour of the Island; a tour like the one done on Grand Cayman.  Their academic test may well include questions related to the Sister Islands so it is important that they have first-hand knowledge and experience which it is hoped will encourage them to return to the Brac in future.

At the Sashing Ceremony, the new Crown was also revealed.  Once unveiled the contestants were in awe of this beautiful creation compliments of The Finishing Touch.

The winner of the pageant will not only get to wear the crown but will receive an educational 4-year scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education.

Throughout the coming weeks the public will see and hear more from these young ladies as they continue their radio and television interviews.

When asked what they would like the public to know about the Miss Teen Pageant, a spokesperson said “It is a lot of work by a group of dedicated volunteers under the direction of the Lions Club of Grand Cayman.  Although the Miss Teen Pageant has a beauty component, its overriding mandate is to help young women reach their goal academically, prepare them for the world in terms of self-confidence, character building, team work, discipline and self-expression.  We expect that when they have completed this event they will have matured and have a broader outlook on life and recognise that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to and that the world is wider than their circle and it is ever changing, which means they must be always learning and reaching for higher heights to be able to compete in this changing world.”

The Miss Teen 2017 Pageant takes place on Saturday August 26th at the Lions Centre.
