Cayman Islands: Assault Early Tue Morning in George Town, 8 August

Sometime after 1:30am this morning, 8 August, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a man who was stabbed in the chest by another man who was begging for money on Shedden Road in front of Anderson Square.
The victim was going into the Subway restaurant when he was approached by a man who was asking him for money. The victim told the man that he did not have any money, but the man persisted. When the victim felt threatened and pushed the man away, and the man stabbed the victim with an unknown object in the chest. He then ran away toward Cardinal Avenue and then onto Forte Street.
The victim attended the George Town Hospital for treatment for a minor injury to his chest, and was later released. The matter is currently under police investigation and we are seeking any witnesses.

The RCIPS would like to remind the public that according to section 158 (a) of the Penal Code 2017 Revision:
A person who wanders abroad or places himself in any public place for the purpose of gathering alms, or who causes any child so to do shall be deemed an idle and disorderly person and shall be liable to a fine of two thousand dollars and to imprisonment for four years.
