Cayman Islands Court result in burglar case – quote from Supt.
As you know, we do not usually put out releases on court results, however, I wanted to just drop you a note regarding a good result in court yesterday in the case of John Schirn, the man who was arrested in the incident described in our press release below, in case you wish to cover it. He was given a long sentence yesterday (34 months) for burglary. It turns out that the building in which the burglary occurred was part residential, and an occupant was sleeping inside when the burglary occurred.
The magistrate commended the responding officers. This was covered in the Cayman Compass. https://www.caymancompass.com/2017/11/15/man-sentenced-for-hybrid-burglary/
However, we are also providing the below quote from Det. Superintendent Pete Lansdown if you wish to use it:
“This is a very good result due to both the bravery of the responding officers, the tenacity of CID detectives and analysts, and good collaboration with the ODPP. We are working hard to reduce burglaries on island and this sentence sends a strong message as we head into the holiday season,” said Pete Lansdown, Det. Superintendent.
