Jamaica: Caribbean Estates resident convicted for cocaine worth $92.82 million
MICHAEL Abrahams, a 36-year-old resident of Caribbean Estates in Portmore was Monday convicted in the St Catherine Parish Court for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police reported that on Friday, July 7, 2017 officers were conducting a special anti-narcotics operations between the hours of 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm in Caribbean Estates, when a search yielded three large bags and one suitcase with seventy rectangular parcels, containing cocaine weighing 77.5 kilogrammes, and valued at US$307,000 or $92,827,350. Approximately US$ 1,400 and $40,000 in cash were also seized.
Abrahams was later charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney for possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, using premises for the storage of cocaine, conspiracy and possession of criminal property.
He pleaded guilty to the offences of possession of cocaine and dealing in cocaine.
Abrahams will be sentenced in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, December 22.
