Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (16 January 2018) Please be advised of the latest happenings at Owen Roberts International Airport, effective Tuesday, 16 January 2018, as part of the Redevelopment and Expansion project, as well as yesterday’s reminders:

Vehicle Traffic Flow
To continue construction works in the old terminal A-frame entrance, we have moved over the external fencing onto the street, leaving only one traffic lane in operation for vehicles to use to exit the terminal. Please see attached photo of this area. The only traffic lane that is currently in operation for thru traffic is the one furthest from the terminal, as shown.

Temporary Free Parking
To provide efficient service to those dropping off departing passengers, we will be offering free 15-minute parking, effective Tuesday, 23 January in short-term parking on a temporary basis during the construction phases. Upon entering short-term parking, drivers need to take a parking ticket and, upon leaving short-term parking, they must insert their ticket into the exit machine within 15 minutes of arriving to take advantage of the free parking. Customers will be charged for parking at the regular rate of $2 per hour after the first 15 minutes.

New Arrivals Opening
A portion of the new Customs and Immigration halls are scheduled to open on Wednesday, 24 January 2018. This is another exciting milestone for the ORIA Redevelopment and Expansion project, and we look forward to offering a new and improved customer experience as passengers arrive at the airport.

Follow Signs!
We are advising passengers and the general public to please pay close attention to signage around the terminal to maneuver their way around safely. We have placed additional Customer Service team representatives in orange shirts on the ground – please feel free to ask them any questions that you may have.
Additionally, new pedestrian crossings are being put in play to ensure pedestrians have a safe path to get to arrivals, departures, short-term parking and the rental car plaza.

Reminders effective 15 January 2018:
A-Frame Entrance Works & Foot Traffic Detour
To facilitate construction works in the old terminal A-frame entrance, we have cordoned off a large section of entry and exit points of the terminal with external fencing to detour foot traffic toward “safe” and accessible areas. As such, departing passengers must now enter the terminal through the new check-in hall’s vestibule doors to gain access to all airlines. Additionally, visitors to the airport who may be meeting with CIAA employees or airline personnel must also enter the terminal this way and call the recipient to meet by Delta airlines check in. We are advising the public to please pay attention to directional signage to help expedite the flow of foot traffic in and out of the terminal building.

Second Short-Term Parking Exit
We have constructed and opened a second lane in short-term parking for exiting the airport.

Retail and Duty Free Shops
Our retail and duty free concessions that were in the original terminal have now been closed and moved out to accommodate the renovations. The Runaway Bar in the Departures Hall is still in operation to serve light snacks and refreshments. We are looking forward to our new Concessions Programme, coming online in phases in the summer of 2018.
