Cayman Islands: Auditor General seeks views on programme of performance audits
The Auditor General, Sue Winspear, is requesting the public to provide input to her Office’s (OAG) new performance audit programme. The plan will provide the public, members of the Legislative Assembly, the Government and wider public sector with clarity about the performance audits that will be carried out during 2018 and an indication of potential performance audits to be carried out in the period to 2022.
Ms. Winspear said “I believe that members of the public are in an excellent position to provide input to our programme of work. We are very interested in users’ views about the public services provided and I welcome the public’s comments on areas where they think my Office could add value by looking at how well government and public services are delivered.”
The OAG is proposing to carry out the following five performance audits during 2018:
- School education
- Diversifying the economy and supporting business
- Efficiency of the court system
- Improving financial accountability and transparency
- Government’s use of outsourced services
The OAG is changing its approach to how it develops its programme of performance audits. From 2018, it will publish a programme of potential performance audits for the five years and update it on an annual basis. In developing the proposed programme the Auditor General has already consulted with the members of the Public Accounts Committee and senior officials in the Government.
The full list of potential performance audits for the period 2018 to 2022 can be found on the OAG website www.auditorgeneral.gov.ky. The consultation will run until 20 March 2018, after which the Auditor General will consider all comments received and finalise a programme by29 March 2018.
Feedback on the proposed programme of performance audits can be provided to the Auditor General by email at[email protected] or in writing at PO Box 2583, Grand Cayman, KY1-1103, CAYMAN ISLANDS.
